A Piece of the Rock.

The rock formations that exist on this site are known in the area as Jacuzzi Rock.  This modern architecture designed by John M. Newton was inspired by the integration of the home into its natural surroundings.  With views of the 3 bridges, the San Francisco Skyline and downtown Oakland presented as a palate of fine art, the large picture windows frame the texture of the reflecting morning sun and the evening smouldering dusk.  The boating traffic strikes just the right note as you take it all in.

The open floor plan allows you to take in all of this just in the first few steps of entering this home.  The 12’ height ceilings give you a sense of grandness in an intimate environment.  The large windows and decks invite the outdoors in with an extraordinary amount of natural light and beauty.

The open Chef's kitchen with built-in refrigerator and stainless appliances are ideal for entertaining large groups or a romantic dinner for two.  The kitchen is complemented by a separate pantry.

It is difficult to escape the stunning views of the San Francisco Bay from any place in this lovely home.  There are numerous places to enjoy a precious moment from the rear deck to the very private rooftop deck over the garage.

The contemporary and warm color palette, designed by New York artist Michael Beck, is a lovely compliment to the modern architecture to blend to make the home approachable and a natural place to live.

The Master Suite has a generous closet space and a bathroom with an expansive walk-in shower.    It may be the place that you never want to leave.

Did I mention the views?  There are very few places where you will not have the views of a lifetime and enjoy the transition of light and shadow of each hour up until the magic of the night.

This home is prepped for solar panels and is prewired for an electric vehicle charging system.

If you want a piece of the Rock, this may be the place for you…

Neighborhood

Kensington

Thanks to its proximity to the University of California, Berkeley campus, Kensington may boast the largest number of Nobel Prize winners of any community in the world. But one look at this neighborhood of large homes in the hilly streets above Berkeley, its commanding views of the Bay Area, and sunny terraced yards will explain why this community is one of the most sought after in the East Bay.
Famed architect Bernard Maybeck had a home on Purdue Street. The homes he designed here at the turn of last century have become an informal blueprint for the signature home in Berkeley. These well-proportioned homes are designed for family life and dinner parties. Shingle siding, rustic construction, and bright expansive vistas are the hallmark of the homes in Kensington.
Tilden Park provides the boundary to the east. Miles of biking and hiking trails, a miniature steam train, exhibition farm, merry go-round, and the naturally landscaped swimming hole at Lake Anza make Tilden a popular destination for families.
Transportation via Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is convenient. Heading on Colusa Avenue leads to the El Cerrito Plaza BART station and a short drive down Arlington Avenue takes you to North Berkeley BART and North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto neighborhood. There are two distinct shopping districts in Kensington.
